Wang Zi is a partner in Guantao’s international practice group. She joined Guantao in 2008 after receiving her LLM in international business law from China University of Political Science and Law. Zi specializes in M&A, cross border transactions, capital market and private equity and has been advising numerous SOEs, public companies especially in energy industry.
After pursuing other opportunities as the legal counsel of Bombardier Transportation China and then the legal director of China New Energy Fund, Zi rejoined Guantao as a partner in 2018. With her lawyer instincts and insights from client’s perspective, one thing distinguishing Zi from her peers is that she is more resolution-oriented and always keen to understand client’s business.
Zi was the lead counsel for a 1.8 billion deal of Sinopec Kanton’s acquisition of five joint ventures and rights issue among many other transactions for Sinopec Group and she advises several companies including CTV-media and ETCP Group on an annual basis.

• Acting as lead PRC counsel to Sinopec Kanton, a company listed on Hong Kong Exchange, on its acquisition of five joint ventures and rights issue, which was worth of RMB 1.8 billion;
• Acting as lead PRC counsel to Sinopec Corporation, a company listed on Shanghai Exchange and Hong Kong Exchange, on its acquisition of equity in seven companies;
• Acting as lead PRC counsel to Sinopec Corporation on its acquisition of downhole operation assets of maintenance nature;
• Acting as PRC counsel to Shifang Holding Corporation on its IPO on Hong Kong Exchange;
• Acting as lead PRC counsel to Nanda Soft Tech Corporation, a company listed in Hong Kong Exchange, on its rights offering;• Advising SDIC Power on its acquisition of a photovoltaic plant of 300MW capacity;
• Advising Sinosure on certain legal matters regarding building and operation of a thermal plant of 2*200 MW in Indonesia;
• Advising Sinosure on certain legal matters regarding IPO in South Africa;
• Advising Sinosure on certain legal matters regarding building and operation of motorway in Bosnia & Herzegovina;
