On 8 August 2017, the inauguration ceremony ofGuantao&CS Lawyers was held atAshurst’s Sydney office. This event was combined with Guantao’s forum on Opportunities and Challenges faced by inbound and outbound investment between Australia and China.
More than 80 people attended the event. They included representatives from Guantao, Guantao’s global alliance Ashurst, other law firms, accounting firms including top four global accounting firms, large Chinese banks, Chinese State owned enterprises and private companies, clients and partners.

Guantao&CS Lawyers (Sydney) is the first overseas office for Guantao law firm. It was established by combining Guantao Law Firm’s existing Sydney office and an Australian local law firm CS Lawyers. CS Lawyers was set up by its director solicitor Mr Shun Cheng in February 2011.
The inauguration ceremony was followed by a forum titled Opportunities and Challenges: inbound and outbound investment between Australia and China. Mr Stephen Menzies, Senior Partner from Ashurst, Mr Jun Zou, Managing Partner of Guantao Hangzhou office, MrKewei Ma, Managing Partner of Guantao Tianjin office and Mr Shun Cheng, Partner of Guantao& CS Lawyers (Sydney) delivered speeches on the following topics respectively:
